Behavior Consultations
There is nothing more stressful than living with a dog that has behavior problems such as: Separation Anxiety Resource Guarding Dog-To-Dog Aggression On-Leash Reactivity Fears and Phobias Housetraining Issues Destructive Chewing and Digging Excessive Barking We understand and work closely with families to help humans and their canine companions. We use humane training methods based on positive reinforcement and a sound understanding of animal behavior and learning theory. Our behavior consultant, Michelle McCarthy is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant and Certified Therapy Animal Consultant with the IAABC. She has extensive knowledge and hands-on experience working with dogs that have behavior problems. Michelle is dedicated to helping owners find safe and humane ways to solve canine behavior problems. The behavior modification techniques we use include classic conditioning, counter-conditioning, desensitization, obedience training, owner education, management stratagies and exercise programs. Prior to meeting we will ask you to complete a Behavioral Interview Form. In the initial appointment, we'll review this form to get a thorough perspective on your pet's behavior problem. We will work directly with your dog as part of our evaluation procedure, and then work together with you to develop a treatment plan to prevent, treat and manage problem situations. Often, we work as a team with your veterinarian to insure that all aspects of your pet's behavior are being considered and treated. All clients receive a summary of the consultation, email follow-up/support for presented problems and access to online training and behavior modification handouts for 30 days. Appointments are 1 1/2 hours in duration. In most cases, you can obtain the information you need to carry out the training program for your dog in just one session! But, if you deisre follow-up appointments, Michelle will be happy to arrange those for you too. A follow up appintment is 60 minutes in length. Appointments are held onsite in Ann Arbor, Chelsea, Howell and Jackson or via SKYPE. If you would like to schedule a Behavior Consultation, please return to the homepage and fill out a "New Student Enrollment Form". You can do this by clicking on the "Apply" link. Payment is due at the conclusion of the appointment and can be made by check, cash or major credit card.
