Puppy and Dog Training Fundamentals -1
Whether your dog is 10 weeks old or 10 years old, this is the class for you! The focus is on teaching you to teach your puppy/dog using positive reinforcement clicker training methods. This class is offered to dogs/puppies 10 weeks of age and older. This course will cover basic obedience training, management, exercise programs, socialization and discussions on Canine Learning Theory. All dogs must be comfortable around strange dogs and people to attend this class, no excessive barking, lunging, biting, growling. There will be off leash playtime for puppies at the end of each class. You will need a six foot leash, flat buckle collar or Sensation Harness (no prong, choke or slip collars) and soft, bite-sized treats. All puppies/dogs must have a current vaccination certificate from their veterinarian. An adult must accompany students under 18, and children under 12 years of age must remain at home. Week 1 is orientation, NO DOGS, just Humans. Attendance is mandatory.
Dog Training Fundamentals -2
This class is offered to K9 Home Schooling students who have successfully completed Dog Training Fundamentals-1, Pup Start or have instructor approval. This class will include a review and continuation of the basic training methods and foundation obedience skills learned in DTF-1 and Pup Start. Intermediate level exercises will be introduced during the 4-week course. We will work on "Proofing" behaviors against distractions, duration and distance, heeling, cueing behaviors from a distance and appropriate dog-to-dog greetings. You will need a 6 ft. leash, flat buckle collar, Sensation Harness or Easy Walk Harness (no prong, choke, or slip collars. An adult must accompany students under 18 and children under 12 years of age must remain at home.
Socialization Outings
Whether you're raising your puppy/dog to be a family companion or a working Therapy Dog, socialzation is of the utmost importance. You must have completed a class with K9 Home Schooling, be currently enrolled in class or have instructor approval. All dogs must be 12 weeks of age or older to particpate. Class will be held at an outdoor location. Under the direction of our Instructor you will have the opportunity to expose your dog to new people, new sights and sounds, a variety of surfaces to walk on, and other dogs. Socialization Outings also give you the opportunity to practice the skills you have learned in class in a new environment. Dogs and puppies of all ages will benefit from this class. All dogs must have a current copy of their Health Certificate to participate. Class size is limited to 4 students to allow for indivudual attention. You must be 18 years of age to particpate, no children please.
