Description
Training your dog should be educational and fun for both the human and dog.   The focus of this class is training you to teach your puppy/dog using positive reinforcement/clicker training methods. This class is offered to dogs 16 weeks of  of age and older.  

Your dog must be comfortable around other dogs and people in order to participate in Dog Training Fundamentals - 1 Class. If your dog has reactive/aggressive behavior (excessive barking, growling, biting, fearfulness)they must participate in private training.  Please read our refund policy for dogs removed from group class. 

The course will cover an introduction to positive reinforcement/clicker training, foundation obedience skills and discussions on Canine Learning Theory, how dogs learn. We will work on the following skills:
  •  Sit
  •  Down
  •  Stay 
  • Name Attention/Eye Contact, 
  • Walking on a Loose Leash, 
  • Come when called
  • Leave-It, to relinquish items on command
  • Go To Your Place and Settle
  • Proper on-leash Dog-to-Dog Greetings
**Please note that class is held in the lower level of the building, requiring the use of stairs or the elevator**

You will receive written training materials to support classwork. All K9 Home Schooling Students will have access to our library of online training and behavior modification handouts.  You will need a 6ft. leash, flat buckle collar, head halter or no- pull harness, (no prong, choke or slip collars)clicker and soft bite sized treats. 

There is no off-leash playtime in this class 

All dogs must have a current record of Vaccinations from their Veterinarian.  

An adult must accompany students under 18 and children under 12 years of age must remain at home.   All dog handlers in class must be 18 years of age.  


THE FIRST NIGHT OF CLASS IS MANDATORY ORIENTATION FROM 6:00-7:15 PM NO DOGS, HUMANS ONLY

Classes will be held at Lane Animal Hospital 701 N. Main St. Chelsea MI 48118 **NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS TO OTHER CLASSES WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE START OF CLASS OR FOR DOGS THAT ARE REMOVED FOR BEHAVIOR OR HEALTH PROBLEMS. IF YOUR DOG IS REMOVED FROM CLASS FOR BEHAVIOR RELATED PROBLEMS (GROWLING, LUNGING, BITING, EXCESSIVE BARKING), THE HANDLER/OWNER MAY AUDIT THE REMAINING CLASSES WITHOUT THEIR DOG BUT A REFUND WILL NOT BE GIVEN**
