Customer Feedback
My 8-month puppy, Leo, and I just finished Therapy Dog Prep Class with Michelle. I started him out in the Fundamentals class, and found Michelle to be a bright, encouraging, insightful and delightful teacher. The Therapy Dog class was even MORE fun, working on things that will help the dogs behave in public and engage with new people. Michelle teaches her classes with enthusiasm and a clear love for dogs and their people. She has an incredible understanding and knowledge of puppy and dog development and psychology. Her approach is very non-judgmental, meeting each of us where we are and helping us to teach our dogs at the level appropriate for them. For instance, Leo is young and does not always have a lot of self-control. When we were trying to teach the dogs to ignore food someone else was offering, he did not quite see the point. But rather than made me feel like I hadn’t trained him properly, she had me back him way up, and start from a distance where he could pay attention to me instead of the distraction. She sees that dogs have different gifts and abilities, and helps us work together to find the best of both. I have been planning all along to train Leo and his mom, Pippa, to work with me at my psychotherapy practice. I work with adults and kids, and having a dog working with me will be a great way to help put people at ease, calm fears and soothe feelings. We are so fortunate to have Michelle in our area for this specific kind of training. Whether you want to train your dog for a great family member or for some kind of therapy work, you will never regret walking into Michelle’s classes!
