I have taken my Goldendoodle, Brady, to some group and private lessons with Michelle McCarthy, dog trainer extraordinaire. She promotes positive reinforcement techniques to teach dogs the skills they need to easily co-exist in one's home and neighborhood. The basic foundational skills that Brady learned in puppy class are ingrained, including the ever popular "leave it" command, which prevents your dog from eating or chewing something it shouldn't. What I like about Michelle's approach is that she looks at each dog's strengths and challenges. She then offers suggestions that are unique to each dog to help them learn and grow. My goal is to train Brady to become a therapy dog. With some maturing and ongoing training, I know he will succeed. I HIGHLY recommend K9 Home Schooling as a positive means of training your dog(s). Classes are held in Chelsea and Ann Arbor so you can select which area works best for you.
